A word to the wise...DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE ASSHOLES! You stand a pretty good chance of being ripped off! (short explaination below image)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v354/LarryC/Hawk%20Studio%20Forum/m123.jpg

I ordered a guitar from them on February 28, 2007 via telephone because I wanted to be sure that they had what I was looking for IN STOCK! They HAD my selection IN STOCK and took my debit card information...within an hour afterward I received an email confirming the order.

Said guitar DID NOT SHIP until March 7, 2007...a full week after the order was placed...their website says it normally ships within 24 hours of confirmation.

They shipped it FIRST CLASS MAIL instead of FedEx. Here it is April 15th and there has not been the first sign of it ANYWHERE.

On April 6, 2007 I told them to refund my money...they agreed. As of this date my bank has not received a refund on my debit card.

I AM PISSED! I am presently sitting out in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico and can do nothing in person, therefor when I get home this week I will be paying a visit to my bank and filing a dispute...THEY will get my money.

Bottom line...TRUST NOBODY! Sometimes being self-moderated and cool, not raising your voice and cussing at someone, does NO GOOD...not that it does much good to do so either but at least you feel like you've let go of some frustration when you do.

And most importantly...to all my friends here, there, and everywhere...DON'T BUY EVEN THE SMALLEST ITEM FROM MUSIC123.COM!

I'm sorry you're having this problem Larry. You may be interested in reading the Better Business Bureau report on Music123 at http://www.fortwayne.bbb.org/commonreport.html?bid=24253&securitycode=

Is this shit still going on???? Fukem......do a chargeback on your card, refuse the shipment (when/if) it shows up and buy it from somewhere else. My recommendation would be samedaymusic.com or zzsounds if they carry it.

I suppose there are just some things that we must learn the hard way...this is one of them for me. Looks like they're in fact the piece of shit organization that I think they are by looking at their BBB track record.

MarkE...the day I returned home from the Gulf about 10 days ago I stopped in at my local music shop because one of the salesmen had posted a comment on one of my youtube videos saying he had a guitar with my name written all over it. It is THE very model I had ordered from the buttheads123 site. I played around on it...hung it back up and called buttheads123 customer service and told them to refund my money because I'm tired of screwing around after 6 weeks or more. They wanted me to check my post office to see if it was there because they tried to deliver it when nobody was home or something...I told them I would have received a slip in the mail in that event...but just to apease them I waited another 30 minutes and called them back...all the while Howie was doing a set up on the guitar while I watched...heheh. I told 123 the post office did NOT have the guitar and that I wanted my refund. They agreed...called me back the next morning to tell me it had been initiated. Meanwhile I put the guitar on layaway after Howie did a wonderful fine-tuning setup on it for me...adjusted the trussrod, tweaked the action, and it plays like silk!

So now all I am waiting for is the refund to arrive so I can get my guitar out of the shop. They actually beat 123 with the sale price, but with tax I will pay about $15 more than if I'd actually received the one I ordered. BUT, a few weeks ago 123 sent me a nice leather guitar strap for free because of the trouble I was having...so it all works out I suppose.

Hey, at least this way I was able to play the guitar before I purchased it, and had it setup professionally...to my personal liking...for free.

Larry, I know that hindsight is 20/20 as I've been burned myself with online purchases. With that lesson learned, I always check bbb.org before making any major purchase now.

I was amazed at the amount of complaints filed against music123. That is one really bad track record. And those are only the complaints that people actually went out of their way to put on BBB record. I'm sure the true number is much higher.

Are you planning to report them? It looks like you'll have quicker luck getting your money back if you do. But even if you bank does the chargeback for you, I hope you add a report on this. It really could help music123 potential customers down the line.

Thanks Tracy...actually your previous post with the BBB link inspired me to go ahead and file a complaint...and it's already filed...over. :P

Peace, out.

Good on ya. I'm glad you did and glad I could help (as far as verification of their poor business practices).

I was beginning to become concerned with your public posts bashing this company (could be construed as liable/slander). But with the BBB info to back you up, especially if you file a BBB complaint...you can complain as loudly as you want publically with no fear.

Oh I wasn't worried about libel...I have the truth and facts on my side...I have emails, order numbers, names, dates, etc. I am fulfilling a promise I made to them...I'm advertising their stellar service for them to everyone that I know...it was one of the very last things I said on the phone to them...but I didn't yell, curse, or even get short...just very frustrated. I think what actually happened was someone in their warehouse who claims to have shipped said item probably put it in the trunk of his/her car and forgot to put it on the mail truck...accidentally on purpose...but it's all water under the bridge.

But I DID tell them that I planned to tell everyone I know about my experience because it's just NOT ACCEPTABLE...and now the BBB report gives me more ammo...and for that I thank you :)

I would have LOVED a good scrap with them if they'd have wanted to claim libel against me...but I think using the axiom "the pen is mightier than the sword" concept...I AM adept at posting your basic web page :P hehe...although I haven't done that, YET. And I probably won't.

I'm really not a vindictive sort, nor am I hard to get along with. I have great patience, as would be evidenced by how long I waited for them to fulfill their end of the bargain. But you have to draw the line somewhere, and they crossed mine.

I'm sure you're not vindictive. But it sucks to be taken for a ride by a company that obviously does this habitually.

The BBB had something like 60+ complaints against this company in the past 3 years. Thats a lot when you consider the amount of dissatisfied customers that didn't file complaints. AND music123 only fixed the problems in a few cases reported to the BBB, and then stopped responding to the BBB since then (not a good sign).

Going/reporting these assholes is not vindictive at all. You're just protecting wise shoppers that check out companies with the BBB before buying (like me!).

Hang in there Larry. Shit, for the time they have been screwing you areound you could have had one custom made for christsakes.

When I first got back into music, and decided to buy online I did some checking. Butthead123 is on the top of everyones shit list. Im not sure if I ordered anything from them or not.

I can relate to your impatience a little as I am also in the waiting queue for my new Carvin. The pain really hurts. I try not to think about it and try to divert my attention to other interests. Your case is different though.....you have something to be PISSED about.

It shouldnt be too much longer my friend. Hang in

Larry...OMFG...you have done it again. I've listened to the three new tunes, HWC, WBD and Nawlins and Im blown away equally by all three. You are a one man music machine dude.

Handle With Care....the final on this is mind numbing. I cant believe how you SO nailed this. I have always loved this song and you really do it justice. This is so pleasurable to listen to. Fuken-A ma man.

Wont Back Down....same deal. You have this Tom Petty shit nailed. What amazes me about you is how well you adjust, and form yourself to whatever music you are playing.

Nawlins...again, same deal. Did you write this? Im not familiar with it.

In all the music surfing that I have done, there are three tunes that bubble to the top, and you have done two of them. The third is a beatles cover I found on HomeRecBBS. I should email it to you. These are the only three I keep perminantly in my library. Your tunes are Wondering Aloud and Handle with Care.

Well done my friend. Keep churnin' them out.

Yes, I should have mentioned this...Nawlins is an original. The more I listen to it though, the more I think I've been bitten by the "My Sweet Lord - He's So Fine" subconscious plagerism of some Lynyrd Skynyrd tune or something because the more I hear it the more I can see Van Zant and the boys doin the boogie in my mind. LOLOL. Oh well..I suppose our influences do come out and manifest themselves once in a while, eh?

It happens to all of us. One of the best examples I can think of is a three generation thing...

Jimi Hendrix....Stevie Ray Vaughn....Los Lonely Boys

I think my three biggest influences are Paul McCartney ( a totally underrated bass player), George Harrison and Greg Lake. Not necessarily in that order.

Who started this 1-4-5 thing anyway :)

I finally got the opportunity to listen to this song...was called out to go fly this morning before I had the chance....THIS is an incredible cover! Who is this, MarkE?

My Nawlins song is 100% me, but WBD and HWC I collaborated with a friend of mine named David McConnell who lives near Memphis. I played the initial drum track (my DR-880, but Dave fattened it up with his), bass, and 12-string on both songs...and lead vocals and a bgv track or two...Dave does all the rest. We split the lead vocal on HWC.

Dave does an incredible cover of Hey Jude and it's posted on his myspace page. http://www.myspace.com/davetheallnitediners You should check it out. He also has a great cover of Honey Pie from the White Album.

Hi larry

There was this great thread on HomRecBBS of Beatles covers. I got it from there. I messaged the guy a few times. If I remember correctly, he did it with his brother. His screen name is DonF

here is a link to the thread. There is tons of great, and not so great beatles covers there.

Do you not find it funny that shortly after you file your complaint with the BBB, you got your refund?

Those bastards. If you hadn't, they wouldn't.
