Stumbled across this. I love seeing the creative process in action. I wonder how this footage got out there. Did they recently release another DVD with some old vault material? Still waiting for a video of the BSS tour to surface. That would be the ultimate.

Mark.

That's been lifted from the same session that featured on the DVD 'Beyond The Beginning'.

The BSS tour on DVD would be fab.... I saw them on all three nights at the Liverpool Empire on that one. Two notable events - 1) The weight of Carl's kit delayed the start of the first night when the stage started to collapse. The road crew had to shore up the stage using heavyweight beams and hydraulic jacks; 2) I threw myself in front of the limo on one night and ended up leaning on the bonnet of the car. I remember Carl gesturing at me to '...get the fuck off!!!' through the windscreen. I guess I can claim that's the official first time we ever met!! :-)

This one's a gud'un too....in colour, and it shows just how technical these guys got when it came to the music. Incredible!!

thanks, graham - i was just about to chime-in with the same info.

you know, 'beyond the beginning' always bothered me a bit... they had such an incredible opportunity to chronicle their heyday, but i can't get past how lousy most of the music sounds on it. having said that, it's still an amazing collector's item for the elp aficionado!

Mark... ditto.

It's been said before, but worth repeating, bands like YES, Led Zep, Deep Purple seem to have much more of an angle on releasing their back catalogues than ELP (or their management) have. More importantly.... there is still an awful lot of new material (more so from YES and DP) coming through.

Seeing YES last year and DP last week, made we wish for a reconciliation of GL and KE. If they could only iron out their differences maybe they've still got some nifty stuff they could produce heh? I've sure Carl would go for it....but he's probably seen it all before in '92.....

Cheers - G.
