Thought I'd share a bit of personal jubilance... as you guys know (I think) I regularly play a Sunday morning round of golf down here. I was dubious about this morning happening - it was already dark and thundering to the south when my buddy & I met up... we phoned the course, and it was closed at that point - but they said everything appeared to be moving south and to go ahead and come on down. I'm glad we did.

I just posted my lifetime best score of 1-under par 71, on a fairly tough 6,400 Robert Trent Jones tract (my previous best was a 1-over par 72 on a much easier layout). I could seemingly do no wrong today, hitting sand shots like I'm ready for the Pro Tour, making long putts, hitting down the middle off the tee... the whole shebang!

By the 12th tee I was 3-under par, and started to have thoughts of breaking 70 (something I've never come close to doing)... and, golf being what it is, my mind was screwed at that point, and I proceeded to toss-up three bogeys (including missing a lowly 2' straight put on one of those holes). I got it back together, and on the par 5 finisher hit an incredible tee shot that should've left me only a 4-iron to be putting for eagle... and proceeded to choke and hit that one in the lake. I still managed to par that hole - thanks to a very crisp wedge 5' from the cup and making the putt - damn, how I wish I could do this every weekend!

I'm going to celebrate just a bit - but as it's looking like we may duck the usual lightning display today am hoping to do a little recording later on.

Anyhow, I be a happy Tarkus today! :D

Awesome David. I know how frustrating, and joyous that game can be. I gave it up a long time ago because of the frustration. I distinctly remember throwing my 9 iron in the lake after slicing an easy shot to get me on the green during a really shitty game. I guess that I just dont have the patience for it.

I cant even imagine hitting an eagle. it would take a helluva tee shot to put you into that position. :yourock:

Congrats Tarkus!! I am sort of in the same boat as Mark with regards to the 9-iron-in-the-lake...only I've never owned my own clubs and it was my ex-father-in-law's 9 iron that I ended up having to replace....actually it was a 7 iron. HAHAHA. I had always heard that golf was supposed to be one of those games which allows you to relax a bit while getting you outside and partaking of a little "low-impact" exercise regimen. It was supposed to allow you the opportunity to clear your mind of mental burdens while you take out your frustrations on that little ball as you bash it down range to put it in the hole. The only thing they forgot to tell me (whoever "they" really are) is that playing golf also requires a certain amount of skill, patience, and tenacity...the kind which are pertinent to playing the game...of which I found I was sorely lacking as I felt my father-in-law's 7 iron leaving my hand after I botched a fairway shot somewhere on the front 9. That was in 1976. LOL.

However, anyone who can have such a great round of golf deserves to be treated to their choice of adult beverages. :) Maybe even one with the little bamboo umbrella stuck in it.
