Okay... forgive me if I relate a small tale.
My good friend Pauline Mc (Tracy's BBUK chat mate....) was talking to Milady about what I was doing over the web with the other members of EMP. Milady said 'Have you seen the video?'. After the inevitable 'What video?' response; Pauline went off home to view the 'In My Life' video on YouTube.
I received two emails that night - one about IML ('It's fab! One of my all-time favourite songs!' etc.) and another about 'Against all Odds' which she also thought was quite cool.
Shortly afterward, Pauline told Milady that she'd mentioned our EMP work to a good musician mate of hers - a guy called Frank Clegg. He had a look at the video and was equally impressed, however it transpires that he's been following the career of a certain Mr L Curtis from Texas over the Internet for a number of years, as a result of their joint interest in certain British rock bands. He was rather surprised to discover this direct EMP connection across the pond!
To cut a long story short, Frank was most impressed with our EMP work and he's asked me to perform at a charity gig he's organising for a national children's charity in November. The gig will take place at the Huyton Suite, a large hall about 2 miles down the road from my home which can be hired out for events etc. I'm going to be covering 'I Saw Her Standing There' and maybe helping out on guitar and vocal with a couple of other things which we're still talking about. I've played there a couple of times in the '70's and also had our wedding reception in the building in 1978....
It's certainly a smaller world than it used to be - no doubt about that!
(p.s. with luck I'll get one of our gang to put the performance down onto DV for another YouTube post....watch this space!).
