Nowadays they will interface to a midi keyboard.

They even have a theramin kit. Remember "Forbidden Planet"?

Actually I have to recant and say that my wife endures so much repetitive noise from me that it isn't funny. I don't have a "studio" per se, I use my computer and some low-end programs to record with right here in the computer room. She's usually only a few feet away from me using her PC whilst I do my thang! She never says a word to me either...bless her heart. I have been known to drive people nutty practicing the same phrases and chops over and over again...
