Back when I first started up my myspace page, one of my co-workers had befriended a guy named Bobby...this was early on while I was still learning how to use myspace and basically naive as hell...but Bobby seemed like a pretty nice fellow and so I visited his profile. As I read his profile I discovered that Bobby lived in New York, and he and I were born on the same day 3 years apart...and once I got into his photos I discovered that he plays bass guitar, a Rickenbacker like Chris Squire of Yes. So I figured what the heck, I'll make a friend request...one of my very first on myspace.
Not long afterward I received a friend request from a guy named Mike...who turns out to be Bobby's younger brother. Mike's profile showed that he was a drummer and lives in Long Island. There was a video clip showing him practicing his drumming along with the likes of Rush, ELP, Yes, and others. So I accepted his friend request and, as with Bobby, we became sort of casually aquainted with brief notes going back and forth every once in a while.
Later I discovered that Mike and Bobby play in the same band called Apostle. On the surface I thought this may have been sort of a religious band so I never really delved into their music...and besides that, by this time I had discovered youtube and was becoming preoccupied with some guys named David, Mark, Mark, Jak, and Graham.
What I didn't realize...shamefully until last night...is that Apostle plays all sorts of tunes but mostly they are a Yes Tribute Band!! Mike has some video clips on his myspace page that he's imported from youtube, which got me to searching...and HOLY CRAP...THESE GUYS ARE DAMN GOOD! Check out their rehearsal for "Heart Of The Sunrise"

Mike seems to be the one with all of the video clips of the band posted...you can view his youtube page here:
http://www.youtube.com/user/Mikedrumzz (sort of a familiar-looking handle there, isn't it?)
Additionally, Apostle has a myspace page where they have some of their Yessongs posted in their mp3 player that are very good...they are live recordings and the audio quality isn't the best, but they are still very impressive.

After surfing around on the above pages last night I have a new respect for them as musicians & friends. I regret that I hadn't discovered this about them in the beginning, but they never mentioned what they were actually up to musically...just that they played in a band...etc. LOL. These guys have the absolute best Yes tribute band that I have ever heard.
