About 9 months ago I got a new amp...it's the CyberTwin by Fender. My myspace friend, Swampman (who lives a few miles away from me) had it for about 6 months and decided he would sell it to me. Swampy offers me stuff all of the time, and the price can't be beat either. To date I have bought 3 items from Swampman, and the price he sold them to me for was about 1/2 of the normal retail price. Here is a graphic I made of the CyberTwin for myspace:

Ok, that was about 9 months ago...let's fast-forward to this past week. I was visiting my friend at the local guitar store a few days ago (I had honestly just intended to drop in and say hello because we haven't seen him in a long time). About 2 hours later we are leaving with a new Antonio Hermosa thin-body classical guitar and a Genz-Benz Shen-100 acoustic guitar amp. HOLY MOLY!

I casually pulled this guitar off of the wall just to play around with it (something I usually do when we visit with Howard) and it just felt really good. I have not owned a classical guitar since about 1985 and this one felt really nice with it's 3-inch thick body. And it sounded good, which caught Tess's attention right away. Being the salesman that he is, Howard suggested that I plug it in to an amp and hear the electronics...but I didn't want to plug it into just any amp, so I picked one of the Genz-Benz Shen-60's that were lined up under the acoustic guitar wall. Immediately Tess said, "I want that guitar!" LOL. I just smiled at her, but agreed that we would take it home with us after she repeated herself a few dozen more times. But after a little while the look on her face grew a little long and I asked her why...she replied, "I guess if I want that guitar to sound that good at home I will need to buy that amp too, won't I?" And so it goes from there...the rest is history.
However, my buddy Howlin' Howie made me an offer I just couldn't refuse. The Shen-60 was priced at $469...it's a bit of a small amp but it has a really big sound...and the Eagles have been touring with Genz-Benz amps for the past couple of years so that should tell you a little bit about their quality. But sitting right next to the Shen-60 was this Shen-100...the cabinet a bit more vertically oriented, but it has 40 watts more power...and Howard said he'd let me have it for $525...the normal retail is around $869. I plugged her in and played around for about 5 minutes (just to make sure everything worked properly) but it only took me about 10 seconds to decide the Shen-100 was the deal!

So my casual visit to Andrew's Music to see my buddy Howlin' Howie ended up costing me almost $800 the other day...HAHAHA. But hey...the guitar is sweet and the amp even sweeter!!! YEA BAYBEEE! Of course if you ask Tess about this, she's going to tell you that these items are HERS and that I have stolen them from her...etc. That's the story with about 2/3 of my musical instruments, amps, signal processors, etc. LOL. Ya just gotta love her! :D
Update concluded....NEXT???
