Mark - I was thinking of putting an article together on my M O when setting up a new music project. What do you use to construct your articles for the HSProjects site? HTML or just in something like M/S Word? I was thinking more of the illustrations and photos rather than the texts...

Graham

That is GREAT idea for an article. My wife and I used to write web sites for a living, commercial and otherwise. She still does.

Most of the time I use Microsoft FrontPage and I write my articles directly into it. The pictures and the text are formatted using tables. Do you do any kind of web work? I assume that you do because your web site is really nice.

I can be more specific.

Hi Mark.

Yes.... the family website is quite straightforward layout-wise, I too use tables to locate graphics and buttons etc. I had a more sophisticated site using frames for my writers site (sci-fi and fiction), but I've closed that down for the time being as there is so little time to do everything else.

I use Dreamweaver MX for the web design, and Paint Shop Pro for the graphics. My lad Peter is studying Web Design and Graphics at Bradford University and hopes to follow a career in this.

The idea for the setting up of a project came to me the other day when setting up the folders for 'Father Xmas'. It would follow a project from start to finish, using graphics to illustrate the techniques discussed - it could also have sound snips inserted to show the 'before and after' stages in applying effects etc.

Have you a template for the articles that I could load into Dreamweaver directly? The only other things I need to know are of any restrictions in terms of file-sizes etc.

Let me know what you think and I'll see if I can put something together - its an ideal subject really, as you can write the article and update the site as the project commences.

Cheers - G.

Sure, I can email you the HTML file for one of the articles, or if you find it easier, use the edit menu to "show or reveal source" and copy it out as it will display all of my html.

Im not sure if you are aware of it, but you can capture images of what is currently on the screen quite easily. I just posted a message called Sonar - The Barbarian where I used that.

Once you have the screen setup, press ALT and PrintScreen together. This will copy the screen to the clipboard. Then just open up paint and paste it.

if there is anything I can do to help with the article, just let me know.

Thanks mate.

I thought about copying the source code into Dreamweaver as I sent the message! Great minds think alike heh?

Personally, I do my screendumps directly into PSP. It has a camera feature where you can click the icon and then switch to whatever application you want. You can then do an entire screendump or select a bit of the screen as desired. The subsequent image is taken back into PSP and you can save it in whatever format you need it to be in.

I'll make a start on the thing and keep you posted. Cheers - G.
