Ok, another GAS attack for the Hawkster. I got two this time. I was so impressed with the last Ibanez I decided I needed two more...
Number 1 is my first 5 string bass. Ibanez 5 in Iron Pewter. I got it about two weeks ago....

Next in line...an Ibanez SZ520QM with quilted maple top. I've yet to read a bad review on this one so I though I'd give it a chance. Yes...its a skinny string electric. Dont worry guys...I haven't moved to the "dark side" lol I've been playing the Schecter, which is nice, and have lately been into bangin out some wailing lead guitar lines (goddamn Mark Farner is doing this to me)...which I hope to get a little better at. My fat ass "used to playing bass" fingers just cant be programmed to move like that :)

I should have this one some time this week.

(Labored Darth Vader breathing) You don't know the POWAH of the Dark Side....
Mark...you KNOW that I'm a sucker for Cherry Sunburst and quilted maple. :D That's a bad-ass-lookin' axe, baby! :D Looks almost like it could be a PRS.
Well, you aren't the only victim of a GAS attack...but my story is so funny it's almost pathetic. I have purchased 7 guitars (4 of them are Hamers) from the music store about 1.5 miles from my house...and I have an 8th guitar (a Hamer USA Artist) still on lay-away there, which will make 8 guitars purchased there since September 2005. We should have it paid off before much longer and I will be able to show it off.
Anyways...they have had a Hamer Sunburst with a Natural finish that I have played and sort of drooled over in the past, but I figured I have enough Hamers in my collection, except that I have plans of eventually getting a Hamer Echotone which is like an ES-335 Gibson, or Epiphone. Howie, my main contact at the store, called me last week and asked me if I would be interested in buying the Hamer Sunburst Natural for a really good price. He went on to explain that it was purchased from their store this past December as a Christmas present by one of his distant relatives. She bought it for her son, who lives with his father (they are divorced), and the kid was in the store at that moment talking to them about selling it. He had no desire to play and it was still in pristine condition and has just been sitting in the corner of his bedroom collecting dust and the strings were rusting.
I declined the offer at first. Howie began talking in a low, barely audible tone, so that Andrew (store owner) wouldn't hear him...when he does this I know something really good is up. He told me "the kid wants to sell it to buy a damn skateboard and has offered to sell it for $150." This guitar's MSRP is $600!!!!! I had to grit my teeth, but with two car notes (I had to buy another new car a few weeks ago) I just didn't feel good about parting with even $150 for a guitar that I probably don't need when all is said and done.
Well...I need to switch to the reader's digest version...the next day, Tess met the kid and he had dropped the price to $125. One of Tess's Avon customers had just paid her with a $100 bill, so she said that all she had was $100 that she could give him then, but he would have to wait another 2 or 3 days for our payday to get the rest. The kid sold this guitar to Tess for $100!!!
There is nothing at all wrong with it. It plays and sounds great. And it has a vintage-style chunky neck, which I really love. I've nick-named this one "Rosey" because I truly feel like I've been on a bed of roses on this deal. LOL.
YES, guys, there IS a God...and He LOVES ME! :D

DAMMIT!!!! WOAH! I am really really salivating here! That top is awesome! They did a great job on the colors! Cherry Sunburst RAWKS!!! It looks really great with the chrome pickup rings on it too! Mark, you got yourself a real looker there, man! After you made your last post I went looking for one of these online and couldn't find one this color. Where did you get this one?
Ok, I am supposed to tell you that Tess is in the next room selling Avon and signing up Avon reps. LOL. If Wendy might be interested, it is a hell of a lot easier these days than it was a few years ago. Avon gives their reps a website from which they can make sales and it aleviates the door-to-door "DING-DONG, AVON CALLING" crap. Customers can order direct from the website and the rep gets the credit for the sale...and the product is shipped directly to the customer. Tess is still making face-to-face contacts and she does pretty well with it. At first I was very sceptical about it, but her first order netted her about $400. After that I told her "GO FOR IT!!" Makes for some extra cash which sometimes results in new gear :D

If Wendy isn't interested in selling, she can still register on Tess's site and make purchases from her if she sees anything she likes. And even if she doesn't want to buy anything, if she registers Tess will get a credit. Tess has done so well with this that she's already achieved several honors...she's a member of the President's Club already, AND she's a Unit Leader as of a couple of weeks ago.
Ok...that wasn't supposed to appear like a sales pitch...sorry about that. But, it has proven to be a great asset and Tess has done really well with it without having to actually pour her soul into it. :D
That is one hot guitar bud! I am looking forward to seeing a MarkE demo video :D Hey, maybe you could do a video product review!!! :D

Thanks for the info on Avon larry. Im sure she wouldnt be interested in selling but I know that she buys it from time to time, and that she wasnt happy with the local rep. That was a year ago I think. I'll mention it to her. Shit, if Tess can get the credit then great!!!
Also, thanks for the guitar kudos. This model "was" available in cherry, blue and green. Ibanez has discontinued it, and, I believe I got the last one available anywhere. I looked high and low for it and I snatched the absolute last one they had at samedaymusic. It was a popular guitar and has been in production a long time. Im sure they are all over ebay. There were also two inlay designs for the fretboard so you will see both when surfing around. Ibanez came out with an updated version of it and discontinued this model. Although for the life of me I cant imagine making it any better. Like you, I have played literally hundreds of guitars in my life and this absolutely blows away anything I ever played. There are several guys up on youtube playing these.
I think i will do a quick video if I can come up with something presentable. It usually takes me a few weeks to make the transition from bass. I know that sounds nuts but its true. I have a tendency to over mute everything on guitar for a while due to the spacing.
