And speaking of Yes...here is a video that I find extremely unique. It appears to be a reunion of all the members of Yes, past and present, playing Yours Is No Disgrace. Bill Brufford joins Alan White playing drums and percussion, and I'm damned if I can remember who the former keyboard player (from the Yes Album) is...Tony Kay (?), and there is another guitar player whose name escapes me as well. But this is a pretty interesting thing to see. The music is a little bit "overdone" on certain parts in my opinion, but then again there is enough coverage of all the parts that it is not lacking anything which was done in the studio that couldn't be brought into the live set. Overall I think it's pretty cool.

It'll be Tony Kaye (with an E) and also Trevor Rabin? It was him who replaced Steve Howe during the 902.. period. Good album that!

Thats some really great stuff. The Rick has such a unique sound.
Forgive me for being Yesly challenged, but the bass piece he does from 4:59 to 5: something....what song is that from? I recognize it but cant put my finger on it at 6am in the morning. That bass line has MarkE written all over it. I need to learn it :)

I have a disconnect with Yes after the Tales Of Topographic Oceans album, but from what I can tell that entire bit was "The Fish" with certain elements of it being a bit embellished for the performance. I could be wrong though...I sort of quit following Yes so avidly when they started having problems and the band was beginning to splinter.

Does anyone have an mp3 of this? I just scoured limewire for it and came up empty.....which is unusual.

Check your email, MarkE. I sent you two Yessongs...The Fish and Heart of the Sunrise. Both are from the Fragile album. I think Chris may have been playing parts of HOTSR in that performance...but I'm not sure. If nothing else it will be a great tune for you to play around with because the bass part is incredible...start to finish.

My pleasure, bud!
The young man in the video did a great job on everything but playing the chords as he banged them instead of strumming the notes...and of course that is a minute flaw...LOL. (sssshhh, I'm riddled with minute flaws...some less minute than others)
I tell ya...the 8-piece Yes band is growing on me more and more as I watch the videos posted on youtube of their Union tour. I had no idea this even happened until a few days ago, and having Bill, Trevor, and Tony back in the mix with Steve, Chris, Rick, Alan, and John...wheww! Check out this version of Roundabout:

On a YES DVD I have, they covered a bit of this tour in the biography section, and RW was interviewed and asked how it came about. He wasn't enamoured by the album itself, and refferred to it as 'Onion' (because he thought it stank a bit!). He said the tour though he thoroughly enjoyed...
From what I remember of the DVD the whole thing was shot on a revolving circular stage wasn't it? Cool!!

Union Tour interviews. Looks like they had a great time with it even if the album didn't turn out to everybody's liking.

Okay, let me dredge up this old thread.
I finally found the Yes song that I was looking for. FINALLY. Its Tempus Fugit. I have been having a ball all morning learning it. It seriously rocks on bass. SERIOUSLY!!!! I can play it, its actually pretty easy.

DAMMIT BOYEE! That RAWKS! Were you playing your Yamahamer on that or the J-Bass? SMOOOTH man!
The Yes video...sounds like Yes...but doesn't look like Yes...completely. I did some research...lead singer is Trevor Horn, and the keyboard player is Geoff Downes, both of which were only in the band for the Drama album. Trevor moved on to become a producer while Geoff and Steve Howe worked together to form Asia. Alan White and Chris Squire teamed up with Trevor Rabin and eventually reformed Yes with Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman...Jeesh the things we learn.
That's a very kick-ass tune!
