I'm back guys... didn't drink as much as last year, but ended-up getting less sleep. I'm not sure what feels worse...
It was a great show - including the finishing number which previewed TSO's long-anticipated CD "Nightcastle". The tune - which I think was called "The Brood of Cassandra" - had a very Kansas-like feel to it. If that's an indication of what's in store, it'll be well worth the wait.
Spent a good bit of time with Tommy Farese. MarkE, he said to tell you "hi"... we've both been so bad about updating the thread on his forum that he wasn't even sure if we were still recording together. So I told him I'd send him URLs for everything...
...but, before I do, I don't yet see that "In My Life" is up on thehawkstudio.com - if you can put it up there in the next day or so I'll link him over there so he can listen as he likes.
In another interesting development, Kelly Keeling - who did vocals for TSO this year, who has co-written some new stuff that O'2L performed Saturday night, and who has his own band - asked if I might be interested in doing some long-distance keyboard work for some upcoming songs they've got in work. lol... I said sure, but it's kind of a case of I'll worry with it when something actually arrives. But ya never know.
Oh, and Jane (first keyboardist for TSO West) confirmed for me that all of TSO's keyboard players voted in the keyboard category (for the YouTube contest)... and that I got her vote (which put a big silly smile on my face).
At any rate, that's what be. I'm thinking I may crash before too long - getting about 8hrs sleep over two nights just doesn't do it for me - but I do intend in the next day-or-two to resume serious practice on what we've got on the drawing board.
p.s. Tommy also very strongly encouraged us to get to doing some originals - I intend on working a little harder in that area in the next month-or-so too!
